Starter motor on car circuit assessment.
Today we did the starter motor on car circuit assessment. my partner and i worked on a 2005 Daihatsu Terios. we first checked the cranking voltage which was 11.00v this is a pass because the battery is providing enough volts to the starter. we than did the voltage drop test. positive side of the circuit was .5v, drop of solenoid was .22 v and the earth side of the circuit was .3v, a starter draw of 100.7 amps this passed because it wasn't too much or too little. this gave a maximum voltage drop of 1.02 volts this is a huge loss of voltage it could mean that there is contact problem with the leads and it will need fixing or replaced.
